The National Caravan Council today launched its new Approval Scheme and Consumer Code of Practice for UK Holiday parks, the first national scheme of its kind to apply to the static caravan holiday home industry in years.

The new scheme protects the interests of consumers, while also ensuring that all scheme members provide a consistently high level of service to consumers, while also agreeing to be regularly monitored.

Accredited members will have the right to display the scheme’s badge, instantly reassuring customers that the park meets the NCC’s rigorous standards and is ranked amongst the best in the country.

The Council have spent the last few years refining their scheme, which replaced a previous accreditation program run by the NCC. This program was operated alongside a similar one run by the British Holiday & Home Parks Association (BHHPA), which has now also been discontinued.

The new NCC consumer charter pledges to go above and beyond the minimum requirements currently outlined by UK law, ensuring that consumers are treated fairly and that their rights are upheld, especially in areas such as pitch licence agreements and park disputes.

So the NCC’s new Approval Scheme and Consumer Code of Practice fills a much needed hole in the industry. My Holiday Caravan back the scheme, and believe that the service it delivers to caravan owners and buyers is invaluable.

My Holiday Caravan Sales Director, Paul Craven is confident that the scheme will be a success

“It is great to see many of our key partners such as Park Resorts have been given accreditation and shows their commitment to quality,” he said.

“We are enhancing our website to clearly display parks at have approved status and display the benefits”.

Look out for parks bearing the scheme’s icon and ensure that the park you choose meets the NCC’s consumer guidelines.
