Colchester Zoo

This award-winning attraction is one of the best Zoo’s in the country! Boasting 60 acres in size, you will certainly need a full day to enjoy. You will find over 260 different species residing at the park including Elephants, Rhino’s, and Penguins. Colchester Zoo provides some amazing experiences such as feeding different animals and transport tours though their African plains. This is a must for anyone visiting Essex!

Mersea Island

Located in the Blackwater and Colne estuaries, you will need to check the tide prior to going as the only road connecting it to mainland (The Strood) is covered in high tide. This little gem of an island offers a lovely day out with a sparkle of charm. Mersea has some amazing seafood on offer and is renowned for its world-famous oysters – available from the brilliant restaurant The Company Shed. The secret Nuclear bunker

What a treat – an underground nuclear bunker created for a if a catastrophe were to ever happen. Just outside the village of Kelevdon Hatch, this well-kept secret (not so much anymore) is a brilliant attraction that needs to be seen! The bunker started its life as an RAF air defence station before becoming a regional government HQ. It was no longer required after the cold war and is now open to the public. You can get a feel for the eerie shelter rooms, try on gas masks, and even eat in the canteen. A brilliant new addition is an on-site escape room with a relative theme.

Southend pier

The infamous Southend pier is a true landmark of Essex. Extending into sea for more than a mile, Southend pier is the longest in the world! It is a tough old pier, withstanding multiple fires, storms and boat collisions – not to mention two world wars! So, grab some fish and chips and hop on the electric train that runs the length of the pier for the ultimate experience.

Audley end house and Gardens

Located in Saffron Walden, this splendid mansion is certainly a sight for sore eyes. You can wonder around the site and within the mansion – finding many interesting things along the way. You will find costumed characters on-site providing some great entertainment. Ever wondered what Victorian life was like in a stately home? Well, this is the place to visit!

Adventure Island

FUN! The only word required for this attraction. Adventure Island is an action-packed theme park located on Southend-on-Sea and flanks the north end of Southend pier.
